Advice for Trainers' Managers
Advice for Trainers :
1) Please read and familiarise yourself with the EPIC LIANZA Training Initiative Guidelines. They are designed to support libraries and trainers to get the best out of the training.
In general the principles are:
The training is a collaborative initiative and relies on libraries sharing their time and expertise.
The success of the training relies on the spirit of co-operation and sharing skills, knowledge and experiences.
All costs are arranged between your library and the trainer's library.
Preference is for EPIC member libraries. However, trainers' libraries can provide training to schools and/or non-EPIC member libraries at their discretion
Training is only within the scope of the ELTI training content.
2) Libraries will select and contact one trainer from the ELTI Trainers’ list on the EPIC Website.
They should contact you with the following information:
Name of library
Name and contact details of the requester
Number of staff requiring training and your expectations for the content and level of training.
Details of computing facilities (for the hands-on training).
Suggested dates and times for training
The costs they are able to cover. (refer to the Costs section of the Guidelines)
3) If you are available to do the training then you should approach your manager for permission.
If your manager is unable to support the training or you are unavailable then you should respond to the requester with in 3 working days.
If your manager is able to support the training and you are are available then you should respond with your availability and organise the date and details of the training.
4)Once the dates and details have been confirmed you need to:
Register the training on the ELTI Training Register at:
http://epicnz.wufoo.com/forms/elti-training-register/ (email epic@epic.org.nz for the password)
Assess the needs of library staff and define the training to best fit.
Provide the receiving library with details of all facilities required for the training session.
Plan and deliver the training – including the provision of resources to support the training
5) After the training has been completed you should provide the contact person at the receiving library with a summary of how the training was received and recommendations for further training.
The Receiving Library will also be sent a questionnaire that asks them about the training. This will be used for the overall evaluation of the ELTI.
The EPIC Team is available to provide advice, issue resolution and coordination support. Email: epic@epic.org.nz
