April 2006
Ma tini ma mano ka rapa te whai.
By many, by thousands, the work will be accomplished.*
EPIC now has enough support to go forward with the new resources from Proquest, Encyclopaedia Britannica and Oxford Online.
Thank you to all libraries that are part of EPIC and to all those libraries that have taken up the additional resources. Together, collaboratively, we are continuing to provide high quality online content to New Zealanders.
A huge round of applause must go to Polytechnic and Metronet Public Libraries. Their commitment to EPIC and their collaborative spirit has enabled EPIC to ensure that we can provide the necessary support infrastructure for a sustainable consortium.
We are delighted to announce that the Ministry of Education has again provided funding for all New Zealand Schools to access the resources in 2006-7. They have extended their funding to include the new resources on offer.
The next EPIC year will focus on consolidation and capability. We will be developing training and support initiatives to help raise the information and digital literacy skills required for all libraries to get the best out of their EPIC e-resources. There will be more information and an exciting announcement about this in the near future.
